Something new is happening in the hole.
Starting in 2024, I began writing in Chinese here. After a whole year of searching for direction and feeling quite frustrated and alone, I decided to try something different — to reach a wider audience, and perhaps to find a more comfortable personality to sit in. Maybe I’ll switch the language I write in.
Pretty much like what I did seven years ago — switching from a Mandarin-speaking country to an English-speaking country. A different language allows us to melt into a different culture and brings out another side of ourselves. It definitely feels exciting and refreshing to explore a new language. Somehow, it brings out a more naïve potential and gives us another chance to start from zero.
I’ve been writing in Mandarin in my journals for years. For me, it feels exciting to step into a new world and begin sharing — no longer just playing puppet in my little world, but stepping onto an unfamiliar stage. Allowing myself to be imperfect. Seeing my journey from another perspective.
I truly hope the hole will continue journeying with me into the world. It would be beautiful if someone chooses to come along, you are always welcome to join the ride.
